Bill Miles brings a lifetime of military service, leadership, and dedication to veterans and their families to his role as District 5 Trustee for the VFW National Home.
His passion for the National Home began when he helped a young Afghanistan veteran and her two children relocate from Georgia to the National Home. Witnessing her journey toward independence, including purchasing her own home and achieving academic success, strengthened his commitment to the National Home’s mission and the life-changing opportunities it provides.
Bill proudly served 28 years in the United States Army before medically retiring following two and a half years in the Wounded Warrior Program. His distinguished military career includes induction into the Audie Murphy Club, Sergeant Morales Club, and Samuel Sharpe Club.
He holds degrees in Diesel Technology, Business Administration and Management (Summa Cum Laude), and Secondary Education. His extensive VFW leadership experience includes six-time All-State Post Commander, three-time All-American, All-State and All-American District Commander, and 2020 Service Officer of the Year. He also serves as a VFW National Certified Recruiter and National Home Recruiter.
As District 5 Trustee, Bill is committed to strengthening awareness, encouraging engagement, and supporting the continued growth of the VFW National Home. Guided by his belief in service and the importance of family stability, he remains dedicated to ensuring veterans and their families have the resources and opportunities they need to build brighter futures.
