RAVE

Hands-on regenerative agriculture training with educational opportunities.

The VFW National Home offers a hands-on regenerative agriculture program that provides veterans with the opportunity to learn sustainable farming practices while working on the beautiful 600-acre campus in Eaton Rapids. Through real-world experience on a dedicated demonstration farm, participants gain practical skills in soil health, crop production, farm infrastructure, and climate-smart agriculture while working alongside a supportive community.

Participants take part in regular hands-on training sessions where they help build and maintain the farm from the ground up—installing fencing and irrigation, preparing soil, growing transplants, and harvesting crops throughout the season. The program also connects participants with the broader National Home community through educational and volunteer opportunities, including seasonal harvest events, cooking demonstrations, and family-friendly farm activities.

In addition to hands-on training, the program offers valuable educational pathways. Participants can earn academic credit and pursue certificates or degrees through Cleary University, allowing them to combine practical agricultural experience with formal education and career development.

By blending education, mentorship, and real-world farming experience, the program empowers veterans to explore careers in agriculture, launch their own farming ventures, or pursue further education in sustainable food systems. It’s more than a training opportunity—it’s a pathway to growth, purpose, and a deeper connection to the land.
