October 1, 2025

Rain couldn’t dampen the excitement as more than 100 Hoosiers arrived at the VFW National Home on September 21st. Many first-time visitors explored the campus, discovering its special sense of community. The apparel store buzzed with activity as guests eagerly picked up National Home Centennial gear, determined not to miss out on these items before they are gone.

Chamberlin Pony Rides was a crowd favorite, delivering pure joy to families, staff, and visitors alike. Laughter filled the air as kids and adults alike met a sassy donkey, a hungry alpaca, some comical goats, and a gentle pony. The animal encounters created lasting memories, with everyone enjoying the chance to pet and feed their new furry friends.

After a hearty lunch, attendees gathered to hear from commanders and officers who shared powerful reminders of the National Home’s mission. Executive Director Mike Wilson captivated the audience with updates on campus programs, emphasizing that the work is far from finished—more veterans and families than ever need the support the National Home provides.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Indiana for the unwavering support of the VFW National Home. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
