On September 7, 2024, VFW Auxiliary members from all over the country gathered at the VFW National Home for their 12th annual Celebrating America’s Freedom Event called CAFE.
The longstanding CAFE tradition brings Auxiliary members together to celebrate remarkable American landmarks. This year’s Eaton Rapids location coincided with the 100th anniversary of the VFW National Home, marking its tremendous impact on military and veteran families for the past century.
Brenda Bryant, 2024-25 VFW National Auxiliary President, chose the National Home as this year’s CAFE location because she loves the work the Home does to support veteran families.

Prior to 2013, the VFW Auxiliary met each year at the Statue of Liberty to celebrate Lady Liberty’s birthday but then began changing locations each year to herald other remarkable U.S. landmarks. One trip included a visit to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to showcase their monuments and enjoy the local catfish.
The group arrived in town on September 6 and spent Saturday, September 7, on campus for lunch, tours, and a trip to the VFW National Home Store, with departure the following day.
