This summer our Development Director, Susan Alverson had the honor of representing the VFW National Home for Children at the 98th VFW Department of Maryland State Convention. There she addressed the delegation and conveyed the Home’s appreciation to all members of the VFW Department of Maryland and its’ Auxiliary for their support. Maryland VFW and Auxiliary members have a long tradition of supporting the National Home by sponsoring the Maryland house on the National Home campus in Eaton Rapids. Each of the 42 single-family homes here are sponsored by various VFW Departments and other organizations dedicated to supporting our nation’s veteran families. The 1,933 square foot Maryland home was built in 1938 and currently houses a single parent and their child. The sponsorship of each home covers maintenance and repairs for that home as they become necessary. In addition to presenting the National Home with a wonderful donation, Department State Commander, William “Bill” Miller, sent a gift for Executive Director, Patrice Green; a framed map of Michigan with all of the annual pins he has collected over the year. Thank you, Bill, and Thank you Department of Maryland for your continued support of the VFW National Home for Children!
