The Montana Farmstead Project

The Montana Farmstead is maintained and supported by The VFW Department of Montana. This area of our campus houses all of our farming equipment, facilities related items, and other equipment. It also serves as the hub for the 4H program that gives the children the opportunity to develop skills and learn responsibility while raising and showing an animal at the Eaton County Fair each year. State Commander Arthur Widhalm with the help of State Adjutant/Quartermaster Timothy Peters, kick-started the special project for the 2014/2015 term to raise funds to provide the Montana Farm with a much needed new metal barn. The funds were raised through donations and by selling Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemorative coins (pictured below). A project this size had not been undertaken at the farmstead in 20 years and after the completion of the barn, the VFW Department of Montana was not finished! They continued to raise funds to re-side and re-roof the other two pole barns on the property, lay new gravel in the driveway and poured new concrete for the parking pad at the Montana house. Now the whole facility looks fresh and renewed. The National Home is very grateful for the fundraising that was done to give a facelift to the Montana Farmstead so that we can continue to do the important work that we do here.
