Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls. Recently, the kids at the nursery were paid a visit by a friendly firefighter from Windsor County with the goal of educating them about what to do in the event of a fire. He brought all of his equipment and let the kids, who range in age from one to five years old, feel and try on his hat and fire protectant gear. He explained that if a fire ever happens, it is very important that they never hide. He suited up completely and told them that If they see a person wearing this suit, they are a friend and they are there to help. He also brought along his radio so that they could hear what it might sound like if a firefighter is in their home looking for them. Click here to see some more pictures from the firefighter’s visit!
