Spring Break at the National Home wasn’t just a break from school—it was a week full of laughter, growth, and the kind of moments that stick with you long after the days are over.
From March 27 to April 6, the campus came alive in a different way. Without the usual rhythm of homework and after-school routines, kids had the chance to explore, create, and just be kids. Days were filled with field trips, hands-on crafts, and plenty of time to connect in the gym and game room.

But what really made the week special wasn’t just the schedule—it was the energy.
There’s something powerful about giving kids space to try new things, especially when they’re surrounded by people who are cheering them on. Whether it was stepping onto the skating rink for the first time, carefully painting pottery, or tackling a DIY neon sign, the week was full of those little “I did it!” moments. And you could see it—the confidence building, the smiles getting bigger, the laughter coming easier.
One staff member put it perfectly: the goal wasn’t just to keep kids busy—it was to give them something to look forward to, a chance to make memories with friends and family, and to grow in ways that feel exciting, not overwhelming.
And the kids? They’ll tell you exactly what mattered most.
For Isaac, it was “hanging out with family.”
For Owen, it was roller skating (even with a few falls along the way).
For Alex, it was spending time with friends—and getting to paint ceramics

If you asked them to sum up the whole week in one word, the answer came quickly:
“Fun.”
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth skating—literally. There were wobbly first attempts, a wheel popping off mid-ride, and a few tumbles on the rink. But those moments just became part of the story, the kind kids laugh about later. And right alongside them were the wins: getting back up, trying again, and realizing they could do more than they thought.
Some of the most meaningful moments were quieter ones.
Watching parents lace up skates and guide their kids across the rink. Seeing children encourage each other during games. And gathering together to show love and support for a friend on her last day—reminders that this community is about so much more than activities. It’s about belonging.

That sense of togetherness is what makes Spring Break at the National Home so impactful. It’s a safe space where kids can explore the world a little more, try things outside their comfort zone, and know there’s always someone there to support them.
By the end of the week, what’s left isn’t just a list of activities—it’s a collection of moments:
- The first time standing steady on skates
- The pride of finishing a craft
- The sound of friends laughing together
- The feeling of being supported, every step of the way
And maybe that’s the real goal.
Not just a fun week—but a reminder to every child that they are capable, connected, and cared for.
Because long after Spring Break ends, those are the things that last.

And it’s all made possible because of you.
Your support helps create these moments—the laughter, the confidence, the sense of belonging that every child deserves. Because of you, kids at the National Home have a safe place to grow, explore, and make memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Thank you for being part of their story.
