During their 25 years of business, The Marc Adams School of Woodworking, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, has a rich history of giving back. This summer, the VFW National Home for Children was honored to have been the recipient of a generous donation from the tuition and donations of those attending a woodworking class to create wooden flag cases. These flag cases were donated to nursing home facilities across the Midwest to residents that could not afford them. There were 25 participants (20 of which are veterans) and a total of 200 flag cases were made. Thank you Marc Adams for all that you do for our nation’s veterans and special thanks to Don Metcalf of Indiana VFW Post #6978 for thinking of the National Home when their group was trying to identify a cause that is meaningful to them as veterans. Post#6978 volunteered to put the finish coat on the flag cases, package and deliver them to the nursing facilities and veteran’s homes. These generous volunteers also built the many drying racks required to cut out, stain, and assemble all of the flag cases in only two days!
