Honoring a Legacy and Welcoming a New Chapter at the VFW National Home

May 1, 2026

The VFW National Home Board of Trustees is honored to share an important leadership update with our valued supporters and friends—one that reflects both deep gratitude and hopeful anticipation for the future.

After many years of dedicated service, Mike Wilson has announced his retirement as Executive Director of the VFW National Home, effective June 1, 2026. Mike’s leadership has left an enduring mark on this organization and on the countless military and veteran families we serve. His steady guidance, unwavering commitment, and heartfelt belief in our mission have helped shape the National Home into what it is today.

While we celebrate Mike’s lasting impact, we also turn with excitement toward the next chapter of leadership at the National Home.

We are excited to announce the promotion of Dr. Jerred Johnson to Chief Executive Officer of the VFW National Home. Jerred has already proven himself to be a dedicated and thoughtful leader within the organization, and his passion for our mission is evident in all that he does. The Board of Trustees has full confidence in his vision and his ability to lead the National Home into its next chapter.

As we move forward, we look forward to working closely with Jerred, alongside our exceptional team of directors and staff, to continue strengthening and advancing the mission that has guided us for generations.

To our supporters—thank you. Your belief in the National Home, your generosity, and your continued partnership make everything we do possible. As we step into this new chapter, we do so with excitement and purpose, while remaining deeply thankful for the journey that has brought us here. Every success, every milestone, and every life touched is a reflection of the strong foundation built in the past.

The future of the VFW National Home is bright, and it is because of you that we are able to continue serving those who have sacrificed so much.

With gratitude and hope, the mission moves forward.
