In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the National Home has received a generous grant from TransCanada. This funding will be instrumental in procuring essential supplies and resources for STEM programming, which aims to foster a deeper interest in these critical fields among students.
TransCanada’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives aligns with its broader mission to give back to the communities it operates in. The $10,000 grant will be allocated to acquiring the tools and materials necessary for hands-on learning experiences. These supplies will support various projects, experiments, and activities that engage students and stimulate their curiosity in STEM disciplines.
The importance of STEM education cannot be overstated; it prepares students for future careers in industries increasingly reliant on technological advancement and innovation. By providing the means to implement dynamic programming, this grant will help cultivate a new generation of thinkers and problem solvers equipped to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.
“We are incredibly grateful for TransCanada’s support,” said Brennan Lally, Grant and Major Gift Officer at the National Home. This grant will enable us to enrich our STEM curriculum, ensuring that our students have access to the tools and resources that will inspire them and enhance their learning experience.”
The funds will be used to purchase various supplies, including Lego robotics kits, a Sphero Indi car, an orb called Sphero Bolt with a gyroscope, and a device called Artie 3000 that draws on paper; all require coding and programming to operate. These resources will provide students with hands-on opportunities to apply their learning in real-world contexts, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

This grant enriches the educational experience and represents a partnership between the National Home and a leading organization like TransCanada. It showcases the impact that community support can have on local education. The collaboration underscores the importance of investing in the next generation and ensuring students have the resources to thrive.
This grant from TransCanada marks a promising step forward in the National Home’s commitment to excellence in education. With enhanced STEM programming, students will be better prepared to pursue higher education and careers in science and technology, driving innovation and growth in their communities.
As we progress, we look forward to sharing updates on this initiative’s progress and celebrating the students’ achievements in STEM. Together with TransCanada, we are excited to inspire and nurture the innovators of tomorrow.
