The Community Center underwent a huge expansion in the early nineties. In the late 1980’s the Ladies Auxiliary recognized the need to update the Community Center. As the hub of National Home activities, its age was beginning to show and a more up-to-date building with more space was needed. The renovations included the addition of a large gymnasium and a licensed kitchen, as well as an outdoor patio adjoining a cafe. Today, the Community Center and Gymnasium is used to host numerous activities, including open hours for indoor and outdoor recreation, arts and crafts, and weight training. Residents are encouraged to play an active role in the events and activities that take place, including organizing basketball games, pool tournaments, and other events. The building is also home to our Education Department which includes a computer lab, library, sewing room and auditorium.
