Every year in October the National Home holds the Annual Life Member Meeting where all Life Members of the National Home are invited to come together to install its newest members to the Board of Trustees and say goodbye to those whose terms are ending. This year we welcomed new Trustees for District 9, Steven Van Bergen and District 12 Trustee, Renee Fulk. We said goodbye to Trustee, Virginia Carman, and Board President, Thomas Tweet, who was replaced by new President, Dave Oullette, and new Vice President, Mike McGrath. The Annual Meeting is a time for business to be conducted and also for Executive Director, Patrice Green to review the events of the prior year and discuss the future of the National Home with our Life Members. Some major points were our new Museum which is nearing completion (grand opening will be announced in 2018), and our many generous donors and volunteers. All of the major events were covered in the 2017 Year in Review video. This year, a special National Home supporter, Rob Weiss, was honored and recognized. Rob was instrumental in helping the grieving Blake family get in touch with the National Home when they lost their son in Afghanistan. They wanted to do something special with his life insurance that would have a lasting impact, long after they were gone. To hear the Blake’s story, click here. With the business part of the day out of the way, everyone shifted gears to the annual Fall Festival. This is a fun Halloween pizza party hosted by the VFW Departments of Wisconsin and Missouri. The afternoon is jam-packed with games, prizes, pumpkin decorating contests and costume contests for all age groups. For more photos visit our flickr albums: Annual Meeting and Fall Festival.
