House Sponsorship Changes at the National Home
Thank you to the VFW Department of California and its Auxiliary and VFW Post #4190 from Decatur, Alabama for their sponsorship of houses on the National Home’s campus.
Constructed in 1930’s, the VFW Departments of California and Nevada sponsored the California/Nevada house until this year when the VFW Department of California and its Auxiliary fully took over sponsorship of the home which will now be called the California 1 house. This two-story brick home is 2,874 square feet and has four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.
Also, the Air National Guard house, one of the National Home’s duplexes had a sponsorship change from VFW Post #12147 of the Pacific Areas to VFW Post #4190 in Decatur Alabama.
The Air Force/Air National Guard duplex is the only home on campus constructed with funds from a single donor. This caring individual served in both the Air Force and the Air National Guard, and so the building was named. The 1,442 square foot home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is entirely ADA compliant.
Constructed in 2011, the home was originally sponsored by the Military Order of the Cootie Grand of Florida until 2017, then VFW Post #12147 of the Pacific Areas until 2021 when VFW Post #4190 of Decatur, Alabama took over the sponsorship.
We are so glad that VFW members of the Department of California and its Auxiliary, and the members of post #4190 in Alabama have decided to support these homes. Sponsorship represents a solid commitment to the National Home, and it is critical to our ability to serve struggling military and veteran families. The house sponsorship covers the annuals costs of a home, including utilities, lawn care, trash removal, and general maintenance and repairs. Thank you for your support!
