The Ladies Auxiliary Nursery was built in 1945 as a home for all infants and toddlers living at the National Home. As National Home programs have changed, the Nursery has become a full-time day care facility licensed by the State of Michigan. Residents of the Single Parent Family Program are able to use the daycare while attending school or work at no cost. Staff and VFW-affiliated children from the community are also able to use the program for a fee.
Day care is provided for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school aged children in three classrooms. Day care workers serve as teachers, guiding the youngest residents of the National Home to learn language and behavioral skills while having fun.
