“Photographs and mere type will never be able to tell the complete story of the VFW National Home. One must mingle with the children who live in its cottages, watch them romp on its playgrounds, and otherwise make themselves an integral part of the entire project. The normal reaction of these children at the Home to the things they have and the things they do, as they grow and develop under the protecting wing of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., is ample reward for those who have contributed toward making this worthy endeavor possible.”

Foreign Service, VFW National Magazine, June 1931

The National Home is located on more than 600 acres of rolling farmland in the charming town of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. This community is the only one of its kind in the nation designed to care for the children and families of our nation’s veterans.

Visitors are always welcome at the VFW National Home for Children. National VFW and Ladies Auxiliary leadership, interested members of the organizations, community members and prospective residents visit us regularly. The phrase heard most often from our first-time visitors is, “I had no idea this place was like this!” Realizing that not all of our supporters can visit us personally, we have organized some snapshots of our 629-acre campus for you to experience some of the beauty of the National Home.
