“Through
love, care, education (and all the facets that these terms imply),
we counsel, we praise, we instruct, we correct, we discipline. The
net result has been hundreds of wholesome, useful American citizens
from boys and girls who might have never had the chance to be such
except that you cared.”

The
VFW National Home for Children has truly been home to thousands
of children and families throughout its 79 years of existence. Some
lived at the National Home from infancy, growing up amongst the
distinct brick buildings and not knowing any other way of life.
Others simply stopped in at the National Home for respite from a
crisis in their life, picking up and moving on again as a stronger
family unit.
It is impossible to tell the stories of all National Home alumni,
but we have posted some testimonials here for our visitors. Perhaps
you are a National Home alumnus who would like to have your memories
posted here on the Web site. Simply fill out the online form and
we will post your memories for our readers.
